Default RAM Engine stamp

I have a '70 YZ code motor - H219
#12 heads - H089 (both)
Intake 9799068 - H079
Exhuast Manifolds were to said to be original - cant get numbers yet.

So all appears to say RAM III. However, the block stamp is 9799915. The 4 has been removed and a 5 stamped. Given the heads and intake numbers would this be a RA III or RA IV?

Appears to be a RA III, but Wallace Racing lists 13 heads for a 1970 RA III, I believe that to be incorrect.

Here's what I copied from Wallace Racing's engine search results:

Year Engine HP Engine code Trans CR Cam Head Code BBL Carb No. Misc
1970 400 366 HP YZ A 10.5 068 13 1-4 7040270 RA III Block Casting 9799914

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback.

As for the heads, I think #12's were Auto and #13's are for M/T...

12 or 13 heads are correct for a 1970 RAIII. The 13's were used on automatic cars, and the 12's on manuals, from what I have read.
The intake also is a RAIII (or, generic 1970 4-barrel) intake. In no way a RAIV.

Good to know TJH - believe I found a listing somewhere calling the intake out as RA III.

I know the heads and Intake are RA III parts, I was just a little confused by the 9799915 instead of the 9799914 stamp.

This has been discussed in detail in previous threads.

I have never seen anything but "12"s used on a 1970 YZ or WS Ram III engine. I have both YZ and WS engines that were pulled out of orignal numbers matching cars, and they all have the "12" heads.

All the original 70 YZ and WS engines Ive ever seen had 12s.

As for the block casting number, I have a 70 WS with 979991(5). I have seen in other posts where other people have 9799915 RA3 blocks. Speculation is maybe there was a shortage on 4 bolt 914 blocks which was filled by using 915 blocks stamped with appropriate RA3 codes. I bought mine as a bare block so I cant comment on if it had forged pistons or not.
