The people at IMI are great. No, they're not "Pontiac" people, but like they said- "all we do are starters". I called today to inquire about a mini-starter to fit my '58 bellhousing-mount Pontiac. Their listings didn't show applications back that far, so they very patiently talked me through measuring key dimensions of my original starter. It all ended successfully- their IMI-122 looks like a perfect match for bolt pattern & register diameter, gear diameter & tooth count, and gear projection. The proof-of-the-pudding will be after I receive it, but at this point I'm impressed by their service.

I totally agree that their customer service is tops. I have three of their starters with 5 yrs. average useage, including a lot of staging lane starts. 5 yrs. later, IMI still rebuilds them for about $20 each; which includes all necessary parts such as bearings, bendix, and electrical contacts.
