today i was planning to spray the firewall and subframe with por 15 and chassiscoat black

my problem is that the directions for the chassis coat say to thin it 10-20%
the directions for por 15 say if needed thin 5% with por 15 solvent
what should i use to thin the chassis coat? it doesnt say that i need the special por 15 solvent but i dont really know what to use and not many places will be open tomorrow so I am hoping i can find what i need

oh and one more question about spraying the chassis coat over the por 15
should i spray the chassis coat when the second coat of por 15 is tacky just like i should apply the 2nd coat of por 15 over the first?
and do you think 1 coat will be enough

the B&Z here in Modesto carries the POR line. maybe you can get the info from them.

My buddy sprayed his frame and underside with POR 15. He didnt thin it at all and it looks great! Use a cheap primer gun though

I have sprayed both. I did not thin at all. Sprayed well out of a el-chepo Home Depot sprayer.

good to hear that it doesnt need to be thinned that will save me the hassle of finding the right thinner
and i was thinking about it and 10-20% didnt seam like it would be enough thinning to make much difference

and i have a cheapo gun already so now i guess i can just do it

Not to whip a dead horse here--but be sure you wear a mask. I understand breathing por-15 particles is not good. Good Luck

I know-- POR says use THEIR reducer, but I sprayed the chassis of a 72 Chev P.U. that I restored and reduced the POR as needed with fast drying laquer thinner - it worked great and is bullet proof 3 years later.
