Default Replacing Glass On Outside Mirrors

Is it possible to just replace the glass in the outside mirrors on my 1980 TA? If it is, how is the old glass removed? Thanks for any help.

I think it is possible to replace just the glass. I do not know exactly how the old glass comes out. Is yours broken or cracked?? Most of the time the glass is snapped in place with a center "stud" and has "legs" that adjust the mirror. Hope that helps a little.

Yes it is possible. Remove the mirror from the door by the one screw. Look inside the base. There are two screws that hold the mirror assembly to the bullet housing. I think PY, NPD, and Classic industries all sell replacement mirror glass. I got mine from a junk yard, and swapped out the glass.

I just went through the whole mirror glass replacement process on my 78 T/A. Like Shooby said, you need to disassemble the mirror. The glass is held in with silicon sealant. To remove the glass, use a small screwdriver and carefully pry the glass up. You will crack the glass in the process, but be carefull not to damage the plastic housing. To install the new glass, use GM Super Silicon Adhesive. DO NOT purchase the mirror glass from Classic Industries. Their mirror glass does not fit our bullet mirrors. Mine was the right size and shape, but did not fit the contour of the mirror housing. I purchased my mirror glass from an E-bay member (E-bay store call Mirrors and More). The mirror glass was identicle to the factory glass right down to the smooth edges.

Or you could go to WalMart and buy a reflective sticker. And a fart can and aluminum wing while you're there.
