Question Worth of heads??

How much are a set of 1959 389 heads worth?
# 531395 both date coded F69
(1959 389 heads with press in studs 1.88 and 1.60 valves and 68cc chambers)
Complete except one rocker which I am looking for.
Exhaust valves look newer (no rust at all)
Have locking nuts.

Any info helpful. Thanks.

not much but so many have been thrown away I know someone restoring 59 would want them. There cant be many left. I have 62 and 63 heads and intakes, useless for anything but a resto but I dont want to toss them. Id rather see them get used someday.
I would put those 59 heads in the classifeds for 100-200? also on ebay and Hemmings and smoke signals to get to the resto crowd.

They're stainless steel.

Whatever you do, DON'T THROW THEM AWAY!! As previously posted, these heads are hard to come by. I'm in the slow process of rebuilding the 389 in my 59 wagon and if I have any issues with my heads (cracked or whatever) I'll buy both heads from ya.

I paid 100$ for the heads and about 70$ to ship them. They were off of a 1959 Catalina. If 59safaricat is not interested, I may be interested in them. I was told that 1956-1960 heads will fit 1959 blocks. I think 59 and 60 are identitcal though.

They are all yours; I think my heads should be fine. I just wanted to make sure they didn’t end up in the trash, they’re just too hard to come by these days and it will only get worse as time passes. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find new stock rocker arms and stock valve springs, so the rebuilding process is going to take much more time than I anticipated anyway.

I actually have a spare already (and now a complete spare motor) but like you said they're so hard to come by. It took me 4 months to even find a pair. I got my car with only one rebuilt head, the other was cracked beyond repair and was lost somehow, somewhere.
