I started many years ago with my 63.Through moving 5 times,and self employment I pushed it back.After reading many of you guys posts,I'm gonna finish the car enough to drive.To start I cut the front tunnel out(years ago),and have a 64 Lemans tunnel.When i cut the 64 I didn't get enough for the firewall and the rear of the trans tunnel.First question should I use what I have and patch in or get another tunnel? And what tunnel should I use? I had planned a 4 spd,now I have T400 mocked up.The second question what have some of used to remove the underneath light coating of dirt and rust? Just a wire brush? Then what to protect the metal with,POR ? I had started a 4 link with getting the bottom brackets in.The welder that helped me said at the time'why don't you use leaf springs'? Now the cost of high strength joints I may try a leaf spring.Why? driver and handling.Now for the BS since this forum has a no of guys that really help one another I just want to get this dream project done. Besides with the price of SD cars going through the roof I won't be driving the SD much and want a unique driver.Thanks Bob

most cars these days are using ladder bars and coil overs.I have done 3 of them and to me it is the easyest.A couple early racers used leaf but most used coil springs.Seemed to be a lot more work to use the leafs and get the height correct.Tom

I have ladder bars and think they work great. Wally Abella who did the Arnie Beswick clone wagon with leaf springs said he was not happy. At least at the drag strip. I made my own tunnel, but Iam a sheet metal worker by trade. If you know somebody its not that hard. For the driveshaft tunnel thats offset two inches just cut out the one side and move over the two inches and add a two inch strip.

A 4 inch grinder with a wire wheel will take off just about anything paint undercoating rust etc. ALWAYS wear eye protection and hang on tight.
