Happened to me once as well. I bought a B&M shifter for my T/A off of ebay, shipped through UPS. Anyway, I get an empty box, with the cover torn open. I asked the delivery guy where the part was that was supposed to be inside the box. He said he had no idea, he had received the box like that. Luckily I had shipping insurance on it, but I had to wait a month or so to get the money back, and was without a shifter for a while. The stock one had come apart.

That sux.

A few years ago just before Christmas, UPS left a large box sitting on my Mother's front porch. Some crooks drove by, saw the box and knew that nobody was home, so they stole the box, broke into the house and stole two tv's, vcr's, jewelry, and ALL of the Christmas presents that were under her Christmas tree.  What really sucked was the fact that all of the Christmas presents were presents for my two girls.

We called UPS to tell them what happened. They said that they considered our area a "safe zone" to leave packages on the porch and they weren't liable for anything. If the driver had just carried the box around to the back everything would have been fine.

Default UPS, Why Bother With Them?

I learned after buying two real nice 67 dash inserts from the same meber here that UPS has never been wors than the last couple of years. I had a set of new heads I bought from a member dropped and broken, dash inserts packaged real well simply distroyed. By the way, just because you have something packaged by a UPS store. Does not mean they will honor a claim. The can have have refused on the grounds the item was not packed well enough. even when packed by their UPS store.

So, use FedEx ground, as it's less money anyways. Claims are dealt with honestly, unlike UPOS who always finds some way to refuse claims. If buying something insist on using either FedEx or the Mail, if they wont do it, then find someone who will. WIth catalog vendors, it's no big deal as they have to eat it anyway, because it never got to you in good condition and dealing with the claim is their burden, and make them sent a replacment right away.

I'm a learned man !!!! Mike
