WOW that is freakin crazy. I'm too young and haven't had quite enough experience to remember always that these things happen.
That is sick and I hope you don't let them get away with it. You 100% you sent it to wrong place (something so blatantly obvoius as you took a few pics of your carb before you sent it and the new one is clearly showing different casting #s than what you remember). I only ask because there's always the chance that maybe someone sold you a 70s carb afterall on ebay or something and you just shipped it out so quick without really examining?? Next time try the Carburetor Shop. I've had good personal experience doing business with the owner (CarbKing here on PY) |

Man, that sucks, especially if it's for a '65! Those aren't nearly as common as the ones that will fit a '66! I never sent my carbs out to be replated for fear of this happening......
Ditto Jon (Carbking) and also Mike's Tripowers is a good choice too. |

Happens all the time, especially with Ram Air, HO and Super Duty Q-jets. With cores bringing as high as $4000, simply too much temptation to do the old "switch-a-roo", and make good money on both ends of the deal.
Also be aware that there must be at least half a dozen businesses using the name "Carburetor Shop". Jon Hargrove is the ONLY one I would ever recomend. FWIW, there is very little if anything you can do about the switch-a-roo, pretty much your word against theirs.....Cliff
