hey guys, can anyone post pics of the corvette summer fireibrd? has anyone used the formula hood with a trans am shaker? any pics?

ive seen it done before, the trans am shaker in the formula hood.
should be phsyical punishment for people who molest a perfect piece of outstanding design quality which even made it to production......

theres nothing more beautiful then a smooth formula hood,
but a good trans am looks fine as well.
but not combined....

but thats my opinion

btw, the color on that chips-bird looks AWESOME!

If you come across a Formula hood where someone attempted to use an aftermarket breather/ single plane intake/ or too long of a carb stud / with a hole now busted into it - thou shalt be forgiven to customize such hood.

I've seen a couple done that way (shaker molded in - not shaking) - looks pretty cool on the right Car.

Just keep it from Cliffhanger.

I always thought that TA/Formula from Corvette Summer looked bad assed with the blacked our chrome. Here the link to it is on Youtube:

Although I would never advocate the cutting of a perfectly good 70-75 Formula hood (especially since good candidates are few and far betwen these days!)...
BUt if using an aftermarket version of the formula hood (dentified by lack of rear heed vents, and scoops cannot be made functional), or if using a hood that is severly damaged, I consider t a forgivable offense.

I truly prefer to see "stock" cars, and have a slight bias towards the Formula hoods over T/A hoods, but admittedly did like both the Corvette summer car, and the one that Captcrunch posted...

I have three Formula hoods;
1- My 73's original unmolested hood (will remain as it left the factory)

2- My 70's damaged hood; hopefully I can seperate the top and bottom to do proper repairs...
this picture is a post-accident picture with my mismatched bodypanels, the damage can only be seen at the center of the forward edge of the hood, but he top and bottom halves of the hood are seperating, and is much worse than this picture suggests:

3- I purchased a "spare" hood from a '75 Formula that apparently was only used for about a month (the car was involved in an accident only a month after purchase - at which time a replacement GM hood was used), thee hood thereafter sat in a body shop (with a crappy repair) for over twenty years - one of the scoops cannot be made functioal as-is, and we'll see if I can repair it at a later date...

I agree........the blue car looks like a killer street custom but I think the early Formula hoods are one of the best scooped hood designs that ever came out of Detroit........
