I love my RR, fit, finish and installation could not have been better. Time from order to delivery was a downer, as was communication. But in the end, it was worth it.
For what it's worth, my '65 has idled in my driveway for hours during trans break-in and endless (and ongoing) tuning, and it's never touched 180. That's with an AC core support, 7-blade AC fan and factory shroud, and a 160 stat.

RR for me as well. Same setup as Mwritter but with 180 high flow stat. Sits at 180, sometimes 183. I use 50/50 mix plus one bottle Redline Water Wetter. Using no mix, and Water Wetter never went above 180. Fit is excellent. No issues whatsoever.

Ditto, RR is the rad to use.
Plus all the brackets will fit and the fill hole is correct. 180 here also.

I WANT an RR for my car, but I'm not having any luck getting a hold of them. I called them about 6 weeks ago and talked to Jerry. Took all my information, etc. He seemed very nice and knowledgeable and told me it would be about a month.
Well, it's been well over a month, I've left 2 messages and an e-mail and I haven't heard a peep back from them. Just want to know when he's going to get started on it. I know he has a backlog. What's up with that? Are they still in business?

72 Lemans Freak,
Jerry is like that. I went thru the same thing last spring. I called, e-mailed, and never got a response. About 7 weeks after I ordered, the radiator was on my porch, and well worth the wait. Dan

Be Cool is amazing. Cools perfectly, even with a high compression 550hp engine. No experience with RR, but I will say Be Cool's service is just as good as their product. They even sent me blueprints to double check the size was correct.

IMHO, Jerry should get someone to help him out, even just in a customer service capacity. Too much for one person to do. Have a great day everyone and sorry for the thread hijack!

I believe it was a BeCool that I got for my '64 LeMans first and then when I saw how it was made and the fit, I returned it and got an RR.
The BeCool radiator that i got was a crossflow design that had a section welded on at the bottom to space the crossflow design into a downflow style opening. seemed like a lot of dead space to me, but it wasn't even going to fit without trimming the radiator support. |

I've been waiting since the middle of march for my rr. When I sent the first follow up email he said he needed to know which year, but on the website you can only order by application. When I emailed him a couple weeks ago he said it should be going out thur. I guess I should have asked which thur!
Now that it is getting hot I could really use it. Hope this reply doesn't put me on the do not send list. |

I put a RR in my 67 GTO after I put in a brand new desert cooler.
The RR dropped the temp. another 10-15 degrees over the desert cooler. Works great. In fact, I went to a car show with 4 67 GTO's. 3 of 4 had a RR. aw |

My rr was delivered Fri and installed. Great fit and finish. Rad cap is in a slightly different position, outlet for overflow now points to the opposite side also. Had to fab some new prototype brackets for the overflow tank which will have to do until I make the permanent ones. With a larger fan, new shroud, and larger radiator the temp should be a bit more stable now. I'll give her a run tomorrow and find out.

Whats typical price for a Rodney Red? I'm going to be building a serious motor in the near future but was going to wait to see if I could get by with what I got. Aint gonna happen. My radiator in my GP could be the poster example of what happens to a neglected radiator.
I drained the radiator the other night was just going to replace some hoses and the tstat . Looking into the radiator after the drain was pretty scary sight. Surprised I havent had a problem already. Im 54 and been around cars since 2nd grade I think. I have NEVER seen one this bad inside. half inch or more build up of crap hanging off every tube I can see. Funny thing the coolant I drained out looks fairly fresh. Wonder how much stop leak is in there? I bought the car in March. |
