Default gotta act on some merlin heads??!!!$$$

Found a set of BBC merlin heads for $400, one is ported and one is not. Seller says the casting # is 1-043. I can't make heads or tails of these numbers . Should I jump for em???? Did merlin make any heads that don't outperform stockers???

Merlin heads are great. the merlin oval ports will out flow the chevy rectangle ports. I am running the ovals myself with just mild polish job on the bowls and a gasket match on the intake ports.

Ant aftermarket BB head with D shaped exh ports are light years better than the stock stuff!
Any time I have a guys stock iron head on the flow bench and I show him how much the exh flow picks up by making the port into a D shape and bunch smaller their jaw his the floor!
