I replaced the fuel pump on Sunday and got the car running again after a few months of sitting due to a bad pump. After starting and running, immediately the "Check Engine" light came on, the engine had a high idle speed and would hesitate when accelerator was depressed.
Today I go to do the 'self test' and all I get is the code 12 (self test mode). I disconnect the battery and try to test again and the light comes on steady (no flash) with the cooling fan running. I then remove the test jumper and try to start the car and it's hard to start and when it runs it's only for a couple seconds and sounds like the engine grenaded. I put the jumper back in and the fan comes on and the light flashes so fast it looks like a dim light. Before I shell out some bucks for a computer I would like to get some ideas from ya'll out there. Thanks for any input, DanC
