TCI Rattler and balancer bolt length issue
I got a used TCI rattler damper from Ken at PPR. I went to install it tonight, and the brand new ARP balancer bolt wouldn't even come close to the threads. I looked at some stock balancers that I had, and the design is way different.
On the stockers, the shoulder the bolt/washer assy contacts is down in the snout bore. On the rattler, the shoulder for the bolt/washer assy is on the face. Here is a photo of exactly what I am talking about on Kaase's engine: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...belt_drive.jpg Extremely quick measurements showed that the stock bolt is 1 7/8th TOO SHORT. Stock length is just over 1.5, not counting 1/4in washer. I know others are running rattlers, who has run into this issue?? What to do about it? I am sure Lowes has 5/8 x 18 x 3 1/2 grade 8 bolts.. do that? McMaster-Carr has them also, with and without corrosion protection. What do I do??

Turns out the washer was already on the rattler, did not know what I was looking at... and Ace sent the bolt with it, but someone decided to play hide the important part from Jake. All is well. Thanks guys.
