Default Need help with a wedding song!!

Hello all,
I'm getting married this Saturday (09/29/2007) and need some help choosing a song to play for the dance with my mother. Just to give you an idea, I'm 38 and my mother is 60 years old. Please respond with you recommendations and include the name of the song and artist. I know there are some really good songs out there for this purpose but my head is about ready to explode with two busy jobs and the preparation for this event. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
db

I've always been partial to the Long and Winding Road by The Beatles. Don't ask me why, I can't put my finger on it.

Anyway, here's a list of popular choices from a wedding DJ.

Oh, congratulations!

I agree with MA on "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. Another choice, and the one I chose for my wedding dance with my Mother, is "Moonlight Serenade" by The Glen Miller Orchestra. It brought tears to my Mothers' eyes! They are both songs that your Mom will most likely have a generational connection with.

Congratulations DB on your upcoming nuptials!

We chose Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. There was a good Elvis song that was our #2, but the name escapes me at the moment.

When I was looking and couldn't make up my mind, I found lots of "top ten" lists online. I know there is one at www.theknot.com.

Good luck!

There are some good ones in there and some others that I'm unfamiliar with. I'll look into the ones that I don't know. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks,
db

I sang "Unforgettable" (Nat King Cole) for my cousin and his mothers (my aunt) wedding dance. It's a great choice.

If you remember the group Boys to Men. They had a beautiful song called "A Song For Mama" that gets me choked up and it is something different but will be the tear jerker and will touch everyone for sure. Here are the words:

You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah
There isn't anything
Or anyone that I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side
You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You will always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times
Chorus:
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
Yes it is (5x)
You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did
And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on
There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life
Chorus
Never gonna go a day without you
Fills me up just thinking of you
I'll never go a day without my mama
Chorus
Yes you are

"Everybody's Working for the Weekend" - Loverboy

LOL - I don't know...tough choice...my wedding was one big blur (yet I was sober through it, go figure). I don't remember any songs except for that stupid chicken dance.

2nd vote for "Song for Mama". If you have a great relationship with your mother and she means the world to you that song says it all.

1.'Annie's Song 'by John denver(we used it later if I remember correctly)
2.'I Know I'll Never Find Another You 'by The Seekers.
These songs had /have alot of spiritual meaning for us.They were played as instrumentals. The 2nd song is 60ish but we love it. God Bless,we'll be thinking about your wedding.
