I had my rpm intake flowed, the worst runner was 300 cfm. Can they be ported to properly support E-heads or KRE Highports?
I want to use the rpm so I can still use my hood. Is the Victor taller than an rpm with a 1" spacer? Thanks- John |

What test pressure was that conducted at?
From what I have seen stock TK IIs only hit 260s to 270 cfm @28", I am finding that hard to swallow!

Butler sells a cut version of the Victor. The shave it down to fit shaker hoods. I believe there is a thread on that here. Steve C did a test and lost 19 HP over an uncut version but it did out perform the RPM he was running I believe.
I know the RPM was choking my 310 K Heads. Port matched but not fully ported.

set a baseline by flowing the head first, then mount the intake on it and test for loss on each intake runner design.

The rpm is lower in front, but higher in the rear then a victor about 1/8-1/4".
Which runners or runner was worst? How much diff between that one and best one? I was gon'a pull mine this winter to mess with it. Thanks

Actually I cut the Victor intake down after my dyno testing. It was suggested by David Butler that my loss would be "about" 15 hp by milling the intake flange down 0.650" to fit it under my hood with an air cleaner installed. Apparantly that amount is what they found on the 650hp 535cid build for the bandit TA. My 505cid made 642 hp with the Victor and no carb spacer on 320 cfm Edelbrock heads. The Performer RPM intake made 615 hp and a 1/2" carb spacer.

I knew it was something like that. Either way a cut Victor way out does an rpm with the higher flowing heads

The test pressure is a very important detail, with out it he might as well have told you the manifold flows 300 cfm of recycled toilet paper, thats about what the info he told you is worth!

I've got some numbers somewhere using a well ported E head checking various intakes.
How did he just flow the intake?? It would take a custom fixture to bolt it to the bench's round hole. Generally you use a head and then add the intake to see how much decrease it makes compared to the heads flow.

Hmmm saw an article somewhere suggesting flowing the intake from the carb flange and blocking all but one runner at a time. I laughed it off but maybe Ponjon's guy took it seriously.
NOT porting your head and intake as a team(and in the direction of normal flow) makes for a lot of work that may not produce desirable results. |

I flow tested an unmodified RPM intake manifold using a cylinder head flowing around 250 cfm, and as I recall, average airflow with the intake attached was around 93% of the bare head. The T2 was near the same number.
For reference, a stock manifold will flow around 88 to 88.5% of a bare head at 250 cfm, and modified (enlarged to full gasket size into the plenum), it will be closer to 91%. Not to sound condescending, but I do agree with others. Simply stating that a manifold flows 300 cfm is relatively meaningless without any indication of measure (lift range, pressure, etc). A more accurate indication of an intake's capability is its effect on peak cylinder head airflow, and that is best represented in a percentage between the two values. You may want to ask your machinist more about his testing procedure to get a better idea how he arrived at 300 cfm. It is possible that he used a bare cylidner head flowing 325 cfm, connected the RPM, and re-measured it at 300 cfm. That'd be close to the 93 percent value I mentioned early, and is entirely possible! |

my ported d-ports 252 @ .550 ,flowed 238 with a T2 and a RPM my e-heads flowed 281 @ .600 , flowed 259 with a T2 and 266 with a Victor(not port matched ,stock out of the box that was on my friends flow bench ,time was limited so no playing around ,only did one runner the other ports must be blocked so the vac doesn't draw from the other ports only the plenum, 300 on a 325 head maybe what he is coming up with , my buddy uses Bill for alot of Dyno and machine work .he flows all the same heads on the his bench and comes up with same numbers that Bill does . |

It is very possible he had another set of heads. At the time he was doing a 505 Ia1.

I just bolted on some 335cfm e-heads and my untouched RPM. I decided not to port match the RPM to the heads because this is not my final combo, and I wanted to be able to sell the RPM. Went to the track sunday and the engine is a real animal; it took out my converter that had been living just fine with ported D ports. I am really curious what it will run with a functioning converter, it feels *real* strong.
