I was looking through some of the photos of paint work done at home by many of you and decided to go ahead and paint mine. I love the way it came out. Thanks for giving me the guts to give it a whirl on my own..

Thanks,
I will try to get some better photos tomorrow without all the reflections. I got lucky, real lucky... It was a nice day. I did paint it outside, not one bug or any dust in the paint. I have painted parts on my own before and have plenty experience with the gun, but never a complete car. This was my first time and it really does feel great.

Thanks Paul, it feels great. I just went out to take another look at it and a bird took a nice S##T right on the friggin roof, dead center to tell me what he thinks of it, lol..

If you haven't you better get that bird poo off ASPAP. That's some of the hardest stuff on paint!

Jeff is right, get it off. On a completely cured paint job, the acid in bird poo takes effect very quickly, on fresh paint its a lot faster. If the paint is dry, try scraping it off with a razor blade. I say scrape, not cut. With the blade at a 90 degree angle, even leaning toward you, pull the blade across the poo. Be careful of the corners of the blade. You can soften the corners by running them across concrete. You should be able to take it off in layers. After that, wetsand with 3000 grit and light polish. This works good if you have a run too. Don't use any harsh chemicals. If you were lucky enough for the paint to have skinned over enough, a very soft cloth and water may take 99 percent off. The polish will remove any of the rest.

The white fence is mine. I was lucky all the spray went straight up in the air and towards my garage. No paint residue on anything. Next door neighbors are car nuts as well, they weren't home anyway. I made it a point to do it early when everyone else was working.

Yeah, good job. I'd be scared to death to try that in my yard. I live in the middle of the woods and I've never painted anything that at least one million gnats didn't land on within 30 seconds of me starting to spray.
The color looks like Mariner Turquoise to me. I like it.

Thanks,
As I stated I got real...lucky not one bug in the paint and I looked the thing over with a microscope. It is PPG Mariner Turquoise Metallic, but I tweaked it a little darker for a richer look which pops out at you. It is the same color as my hood/header panel/engine bay in my avatar. Here is a few more close up:
