Get a phone card and call him.....if he has caller ID, he'll not recognize the number and might pick up the phone......

Was it a USPS money order that you used to pay him??

You have recourse! You have spent a lot of money on this block. What you do is make an attempt to call and send a certified letter with return receipt back to you. This should take 3 days and no more. If this is unsuccessful then contact the district attorney in his county. And explain the situation and say that you want to file a police report against the said individual. As a word of warning to you the local police in his area may ignore at first. But wire transfer fraud is a Federal offense.

After you file the complaint send a copy to the individual that took your money. For a small fee you can also take him to small claims court. This will complicate his life some. And make it more likely to get your cash back. Or what is left of it. Who knows he may be a "meth head" and already smoked up your cash.

To summarize try "informal resolution" first with a certified letter. Then if no response go right at him. Even if you win small claims he may not pay still. BUt at least it will make it harder for him buy a house, car etc. Good luck.

Well he answered the phone tonight and said the block was shipped on Monday. He gave me a reference number and the name of the shipping company. He also said he was going to send me some additional parts at no cost to me because it took so long.

No happy ending!!!!! Received a standard block 485428, had to pay 850.00 to the shipping company!!! I called him and he says he put an sd block 490132 in the crate. Claims it was swapped during transport. The battle begins!!!

Was the shipment insured? Don't know about the shipping costs, Baker says it's not that much.

You got ripped off on shipping cost, my block going from NY to FL and back cost less than $800.DId you have it in writing that the block was an SD and do you have all the numers. The block should of been insured if it was that valuable.

This sounds like the way most of my restoration went locating parts. But once I found a few decent people, I stick with them simply because every time I believe and trust in someone that's not in the Pontiac Mafia I get burned. I have a few people who have been so good to get parts and help from. I, consider them a real blessing. They all know who they are, and so thanks again.

I hope you get the block you bought. Some people don't understand that mistaking kindness for weakness, is just plain dangerous. Just think about some of the missing people that were never found. Some of them, may have made this stupid mistake one time to many. :)~ Mike

Hopefully you get your money back. Doing acts like this ruins it for the honest sellers. Its just a matter of time before this person rips off the wrong person and vigilante justice will prevail.

That SUCKS!!!

You got ripped off several ways! Shipping from WI to CT of a 68 400 block was less than $200!

Go the DA route!

I have a question about this thread, maybe it could help prevent any more of this.
Does anyone know all the steps/payment methods that should be taken that would give you a strong legal recouse against a scam artist ?
