Any thoughts on the value of installing an "X" pipe into my 68 GTO exhaust? The car is a 400 HO with Ram-Air, ported heads and Ponti-Action headers, leading into the dual exhaust.

Not real sure about hp gains. It will equalize the pressure. Eliminates the cackle sound when letting off the gas.

Hi,
I bought a 2.5" X-Pipe complete system from Pypes for my 462 cid, 68 GTO with log exhaust manifolds. I'm very happy with it so far. Car is a M20 four speed. No clearance problems, not overly loud. I had it installed by a muffler shop on an overhead lift. Quick and easy. All pipe connections were clamped. With RA exh manifolds and HO, you will probably gain a little HP from improved flow and less backpressure. Mike

Thanks Dog,
Does the Pypes x pipe have baffles in it? Also, you wouldn't happen to have a spare radio connector or harness???

Hi,
I didn't see any baffles in the x-pipe tubes that I received. I ordered the standard mufflers for my system. Wasn't interested in the loud ones. I don't have any spare cables, harnesses or connectors for radios. Mike

When we dynoed my rebuilt engine we did a pull with the Pypes 2.5" X pipe and it picked up 20 ft/lbs of torque with no other changes. So when it goes in the car, I'm using the X pipe!

they do add power to the ground but there are two negatives, one is they get in the way especially if you have a stick. two is the exhaust loses that stock low burble at idle.
No question though, good for 10-20 pound feet on the chassis dyno.

I added an "H" pipe and like the balanced sound.

Thanks to everybody who responded. I was considering the Dr. Gas pipes.
Put an "x" in my vette to replace the factory "H" and saw a difference. Noel, Any clearance problems with the Dr. Gas "X" in your car? Is it a stick?

My car went from 294,1 rwhp to 322,1 and added 39 ft/lbs when I installed a 2,5" Pypes system. The car is an all stock -70 RA4 otherwise. Here is a link to Pypes page with some photos: http://www.pypesexhaust.com/gallery25.html
