my brother bought some tank and fenders for his shovel head already painted nice flames and by the time it got to him it looked like they kicked to him. thats been 8 months ago. he called them told them about it, took pictures then they came picked it up next thing he know the box is back in california and he ask when there gonna return it and they say were not, you denied the package and if you want it shipped back you have to pay and also they are not gonna pay for the paint work

I work with a guy that also works for UPS. He said the same as above about marking something fragile. They do play football with it.
If it is fragile, pack it WELL. Stuff as much newspaper or bubble wrap you can in it to prevent any damage. And DON'T mark it fragile, it only draws attention to it. It is a shame that we live in a world like this.

I quit using Ups several years ago and strictly use Fedex they might be a little more expensive but I haven't had any claim problems yet .

So if it's fragile we should mark it "Please Kick, Throw, Drop & Crush!"
Maybe some News crew needs to put a mini cam in a box marked Fragile to get something on film then shame these shippers into getting a little care into what they do. |

The typical american has no pride in his or her work, just get me through the day and give me my paycheck- I see it every day.

I shipped a computer once via UPS, was worth around $500, but I insured it at replacement cost of $2500. As luck would have it, it disappeared and UPS did pay the insurance amount. A bad experience turned into a brand new computer, took them around 3 months to pay.

I feel your pain. Up here in Canada they charge an additional $50 just to clear customs on any item less than $1300, and you have no choice.(unless you have your own Customs Broker)
I represent a company that offers a service to businesses that audit all UPS and FedEx shipments.(and DHL) If anything arrives late, damaged, or delivered to the wrong address,...if anything goes wrong, they fight on the companies behalf to recoup the loss. The great thing is, it costs nothing. There only fee is 50% of whatever they recover, and the reports that can be generated are amazing, also, at no cost. They say that $5 billion goes unclaimed each year. The website is http://www.veriship.com/index.aspx, it's a great tool for businesses to keep track of those couriers, and it's free |

If I were a manager at UPS, playing "football" with a package, fragile or otherwise, would be a one-strike-and-you're-out type of offense. No reason to keep those cretins employed when there are clearly people out there who could do that job better.
I too use Fed Ex and find their rates to be better than UPS.

Now, a couple of years ago I bought from a nice guy on here a rebuilt set of ported 6X heads. Shipped them UPS, against my advise, and when they came. One corner was cracked, and the other head on the same side had a broken corner.
A while later, I bought an Intake for a 67 GTO, and the guy said no worries, I'l have the UPS store package it. It came busted as well. UPS store has a sign saying they are not responsibile for faulty packaging in the event of a claim filed with UPS. About fifteen years ago, I bought an Antique Sterling silver tea service for a gift. When it came, a couple of pieces to the set were smached. I removed UPS from by companies account, and started with FedEx. I many years, I have had two problems, and the claim if settled before they have time to even question things. I simply will not buy something if I have to hav it shipped via UPS. And don't wait to get a claim from themas they find some way to get out of paying most the time.

I have noticed that a lot of stuff I order now comes by fedex. Perhaps the shippers have had too many problems with ups? There should be a strict no tolerance policy on tomfoolery on the handling of fragile items. |

Got to love them... Insure Insure
455 Crank nicly packaged broke in half... Turbo 400 on a pallet broke the bellhousing... Set of pistons I finally got the label had been insured but went to the wrong place so they don't cover a reship. Not even one piston left. Keep in mind the claim has to come from the sender not the receiver. Good luck John
