Default Do not buy from Tin Indian on Chitownracing.com

I bought a bare Pontiac 455 block from Bob for $300 and had the understanding that it had a sleeved cylinder. However it was cracked along the entire water jacket on one side of the block and through the mains.

WARNING PICTURES ARE LARGE.

There was rust seeping out of the crack on the block so it had been cracked for sometime. (I didn't notice see this until the machine shop had magnafluxed the block for me) I PM'd Bob and he called me saying that he got it from his friend and didn't know anything about it and he couldn't do anything about it. I offered to bring it back to him and purchase one of his 455 shortblocks for an additional $200 (he wanted $500 for the shortblock) he said he couldn't do that and he would check around for another block for me. I have since tried to call him (left messages) and PM's with no response.

I gave him every chance to get back in touch with me and work with him. I do understand these parts are used, but, I also expect the parts I buy from someone to be usable to me.

I don't post much on here but I have bought several parts from people on Chitownracing and they have all been flawless experiences.

This Post is ment as a FYI to anyone that happens to visit that website. If this is in the incorrect section Mods please move it.

Thanks for the heads up.

It amazes me that people try to get away with selling garbage.

I have a good 455 block and crank for sale if you wanna drive to CT.

Mark.

Yeah it sure is, he's trying to say well I bought it from ebay and I didn't know it was cracked now. It's kinda getting funny now on that website. I posted the same thing on there. It's 5 pages now. One of his friends is trying real hard to defend him and is digging him into a deeper hole. I'll still never see any money out of this but it's kinda worth the entertainment.

Thanks for the offer, but CT is a bit far :D
