I am detailing the engine compartment of a 67 GTO CA car that has the air pump. There is an odd looking fuel line set up that comes up on the drivers side and consists of a three input filter, steel lines, and rubber fuel lines. It looks like it could be partially stock but has been modifed. Does anyone have photo's of the proper set up? I am thinking that because it is a car with the air pump that there is no room for the normal steel fuel line to feed up along the front of the engine.

If you have a Rochester carb as my A.I.R car does, the fuel line has no inline filter. It is routed in the front of the engine between the radiator hose neck and sending unit. Then it turns down behind the A.I.R hose connection for the left head. Then it is routed down inbetween the water pump housing and the power steering pump to th e fuel pump. There is no difference in fuel lines related to A.I.R. The reproduction line will fit fine, it just takes a while to get it snaked back in there.

Thanks for the replies. The in line fuel filter is currently after the fuel pump and it has a small third outlet back to the return line back to the tank. The fuel pump has only provisions for one inlet and one outlet. Should the filter be down below in line before the pump with the return line connected down there as well?

What you have sounds like the early '67 fuel lines. The filter should be mounted on a brkt up near the intake/water outlet. Then there's 3 steel lines, 1 to the carb, 1 to the pump and 1 to the return.


Or, you can just put on the later fuel pump with the vapor return in the pump. Then it's just one steel line from the pump to the carb. The only filter with this setup is in the carb.

Either way, all the parts you need are on pg. 62 and 63 of the latest PY catalog, including the brkt.

Thanks ro everyone that replied. After looking at the photo's of the various forum members cars, I can conclude that what is on this car is not original in any way. It looks like someones attempt to recreate the early fuel line set up. Sorry I am not able to post a photo of what I have at this time. This car was built in the 3rd week of Dec so it could be correct with either set up. I'm going to use the single line with the vented fuel pump to keep it simple. Again thanks to everyone. Now on to my next problem with a 69 Conv.
