I have recently gotten into modding guitars. For my next project I want to do a GTO inspired guitar. I know there are a number of guitar players on the boards so lets hear your ideas.

Outside of painting the guitar the same colors as my GTO, the other idea I had was to fab bushings and use rally lug nuts for the volume and tone pot controls.

I also thought about putting a GTO deck lid emblem on the headstock where the orginal fender logo used to be.

Any other ideas?

It would be cool if you could incorporate the body of the car into the guitar like this one. I got to play one of these in the late 80's. Every time you hit the wammy bar it would lite up the tail light.

I am not at the point where I am handcrafting bodies so it will be based on a strat.

Hi Supertacks,
Maybe get a second pick guard and have a picture of your GTO silk screened or etched into it. Use the original one when it's being played so the silk screening won't be damaged.
Another possibility - cover the body with leather and have your car printed onto the leather (something like Waylon did with his Telecaster's). Or maybe get some in-lays in the finger board.
I'm betting that it won't be cheap though - should be an interesting project. Best of luck with it.

I'd like to see one of the emblems off a door panel used. Low profile, but they still have plenty of detail...

I totally dig the inlay idea. I actually have two extra necks that are the same as the guitar I am using for this project. It may be beyond my skill set but I am willing to give that a try.

first of all, trash the strat body, haha jk

i think it would be BA if you fabbed up some ram air scoops and placed them behind the bridge. maybe if your feeling ambitious you could carve the GTO isignia in there somehow. i just think it would be sick if you made the entire body look like a GTO R/A hood. OR have a airbrush artist make a mural of your real GTO on back of the body. get rid of the strat on the headstock and put GTR for "guitar" or something... i dont know lol

What year GTO?

Get a Flying V and paint it as a Pontiac arrowhead.

My car is a 69 vert. But it doesn't have to be modeled after a 69. I love them all.

I thought of doing a V guitar with the pontiac arrowhead. But the doner guitar is a strat body with a fixed bridge and a tele neck.

But, hypothetically, a Judge theme guitar would be cool, orange with a Judge sticker. It might even look good on a Strat, hehehehehe
