Default Radio CD player

I have a 94 Grand Prix with a factory radio and CD player. I have the radio controls on the steering wheel. This is the second radio I have had put in the car. I think the CD player part is junk. Both radios had CD player act up and sometimes refuse to eject the cds but usually just won't play them. Anyway I can live without the cd player in this car but the radio has been getting worse and worse. First it got to where I couldn't get AM stations and now the FM stations are very weak. I figured it was the antenna going bad but I checked every inch of antenna cable and found nothing bad or damaged. Also I cleaned the antenna ground. Has anyone else had this problem? Can the radio just be going bad too? I see a lot of these radios on ebay but they list them as for being for a 96-2000 GP and mine is a 1994. They look the same. Anybody have any helpful info?
Thanks
Paul
