Default NOT happy with Just Dashes

Spent almost 700.00. Back side of dash looks just like it did.....rusty. It just looks poor in general. The color is WAY off. The grain and surface looks good enough that when I dye it the correct color from Legendary, it will look ok. But NOT worth 700.00 and NOT what I was expecting. Won't use them again. Rob at Legendary said he's heard this a lot about them. I know they used to be the best but not anymore.

Wow,that really sucks.

JD did my dash last season, and it came out awesome.

Quality control isnt what it used to be.

They really didn't seem interested in hearing about it. Me and my resto guy were surprised but Legendary didn't seem to be. Said it was pretty common now.

Just Dashes recently did the pad on my '67. Good job, good communication, and they shipped it when they said they would. There has been a lot of comments about them both good and bad on the forum. I would find out who the head guy is and have them correct the problem. Or else file a protest through your credit card company, assuming you paid with a credit card.

They did my 69 dash three years ago and it came out perfect. I would call and complain not just to anyone but to the manager. I also saw recently that they are into all aspects of interior resto now-gauges, chrome trim, door panels, etc. Perhaps they are now too big and have lost focus??

I too would call your credit card company and file a complaint. Good luck.

I've talked to them twice. I'm moving on. My resto guy is going to work it up and get it right. I don't have time to send it back to california and wait again. I have seen VERY good work from them. Thats why I used them. Also, if you need any paints or dyes to match anything you get from Legendary you can call Rob at Mo Paint 732-846-1044. They do all the dyes for the seat, door panels etc... from Legendary

CORRECTION:
I had earlier implied that Rob at Legendary had had many similar complaints about JD. It's actually Rob at Mo Paint who does all the dyes and paints for Legendary that reported the problem to me. He said more and more people are calling after getting there dashes from JD to get the correct color.

Thanks for the update Jimmy. I was going to say that we don't have a Rob that works here at Legendary Auto Interiors, Ltd.

Eric,

I wanted to clear that up. My bad. I LOVE my Legendary interior for my Judge. I waited over a year to order my interior because I knew you guys were getting close to producing the Pontiac stuff. It was worth the wait!

So, am I reading this correctly that Legendary is restoring dashes? If so, I will send them my dash because they did my seats to perfection !!

No, we are currently not restoring dash pads. We are in the same boat as everyone else when it comes to the GM dash pads.

Hi Eric, does Lengendary have any plans to do the 69-72 Grand Prix seat kits. These are becoming very popular cars to restore. Dave

Did I miss another one? What are the issues involved? Pardon my ignorance. Thanx. Ron

Just Dashes did MANY pieces for my '65 Chrysler 300 'vert that I am resotoring and I couldn't be happier. They nailed the color on all the interior pieces (two tone red); most of the time just from a small swatch. A+++ in my book.

You didn't post a photo, before/after but I would like to comment that if you sent them a metal skeleton that was out of a car which had been sitting for 25 years with, either no top left on it, (convertible) or a missing or broken windshield you should have known to send them a cleaner core. That or they should have called you & requested same. As far as the rust issues go. you can't expect a whole lot of you don't give them something decent to work with. With every passing year, these cars get older & parts will rust in behind things, now a lot of these cars are quite rare & valuable, but you have to keep in mind that GM didn't built these cars to last forever.

Peter,
By rusty I didn't mean holes in it or a skeleton. I sent them a solid southern dash that was cracked and the material was hard. The back side had what is usual surface rust which I assumed wouldn't be there when it came back. The color is not close. I bought the correct paint (140.00 a pint) from Mo Paint which is who mixes and sells the paints and dyes to Legendary and many others. Maybe I should not have mentioned it. Everybody else seems to be happy so I'll let it go. I will say that according to Mo Paint it is common for people to call when the JD's colors aren't close. That said, it appears a whole lot more people are happy with them than not
