for my '64 Tempest. Who make the best one? OPGI appears to have all the colors but who has the most authentic?

Go with our host PY or Ames. They both offer the best quality and originality Never had any luck with OPGI having the item in stock.

I just ordered a mesh package tray (with the jute padding) from Ames. I needed to do this (with the mesh) since I installed a rear speaker. The previous tray was not mesh. From reading my PHS docs I can tell that my car originally came with the verbaphonic setup, so adding a rear speaker made sense.
I can tell you that that the new package tray from Ames is significantly shinier and is textured. The current tray is a flatter black with no texture. I "think" the tray that I had may have been an original, (or a really old repro) ...but not for the documented setup of my car. It is still in excellent shape, but is more of a flat black and the thin strip of foam padding is yellowed and old. (also in good shape and not deteriorated) Regardless, I'm happy with the new tray. I'm not sure what PY offers.
I did however have problems with the old tray and plan on securing the new one down with some Super77, and possibly use the screw down speaker grill (if I confirm that this was an original item). My related post can be found here;

Let me know if you'd like pictures of my old and new (Ames) tray... as the black&whites from the catalogs do not do justice for what you're really looking for.

The package tray in mine is probably the original..............ist's just a flat brown....nothing fancy as my car is the bottom of the line Tempest..............has water damage from a leaky window which I am fixing.............the one thing I noticed is that the side strips appear only to come in black............where can I get brown?

I don't think PY carries them at all. And Ames only only has them black, and even then they are listed as "new". So good luck.

Krylon???they have a plasic paint that works well. gotta be better than black

Ames lists Package Trays in a variety of colors for $25 including jute padding and vinyl strip. I'm gonna call them to make sure they are the end strips. Also gonna call PY.

The cardboard package tray has a tendency to warp in the heat. I found the mesh ones worked better.

I just put mine in from Ames, it is a REM product. I would ask for some color samples before ordering (lesson I learned)........

Just following up... I removed my old package tray (non mesh) and I found that the previous installer left the red & white REM label on there. The new mesh one I received is also a REM. However it has a much higher gloss factor than the plain cardboard one. So if you'd like to see digital/color pics of both let me know... I can go snap a few shots and upload them for you.

In their catalog the recommend to order samples first and I am going to do that. The package tray in my '64 is a very dark brown. What is a REM product?

VergeGTO ...............I'd would appreciate seeing some photos if you have time. Mine is plain cardboard but I'd like to see both.
