hey kiddies, well, yet another question for my motor: i just got her all buttoned back up from a rear main seal change. i was checking the lash on my hydraulic roller camshaft from p-dude, and i found 3 lifters that have no movement in the cup whatsoever, and 1 that barely moves in the cup. all the others, when adjusting, have that little bit of 'squish' to them, but when i tried to set the first one like that i ran into, as soon as i felt resistance spinning the pushrod, if i tried to turn the nut a half turn, i could feel it binding, like i was pushing against the spring. i lightly tapped on the pushrod after i removed the rocker, and it did not budge at all. so i went through the rest of the motor, (i was halfway through...) and found three more just like it. this doesn't seem normal to me, but this is my first roller, any insights on what could be happening, or have happened? the filter and pan were spotless, no junk running through the motor as far as i could tell.
the motor was broken in like a regular motor, i used comp break in lube, and i am certain i am not on any ramp of a lobe, as i have checked them repeatedly, and with no rocker arm attached....... please let me know anything information wise you may have to offer, this thing is killing me............ davey

quick update:
i tried rolling the motor over into several positions, to make sure it wasn't hydraulically locked and not letting it get access to an oil passage. i tapped on it again, no luck, solid as it gets. i personally primed this motor, and saw oil come out of EVERY rocker when you rolled it over. it always happened when the lifter was on the upswing.... i also pulled out the pushrods and looked into the lifters(matching pair, one that moved, one that didn't..) and the solid one does not seem to be collapsed, the cup appears to be at the same height(against the snap ring) as the one that moves...... that's all i got for now, time for a cold one.......... davey

Those three might have been on the base circle when you started and are pumped up. Have you tried to preload one of them and see if it bleeds down within a minute. I'd put enough preload to open the valve a bit and wait to see what happens.

Good advice Mick. I had a similar issue and followed the advice you gave. I pre-loaded the ones that wouldn't move until their respective valves had opened a little. Came back a few minutes later to find that they had bled down.
On a side note Davey. How's Storm Large and The Balls doing these days?

Good luck Dave, let us know how you make out. I still think Storm should have won that stupid show! The viewing public wouldn't know talent if it came up and bit them on the buttocks, LOL! I need only to say the words "American Idol" to prove it.
