Goldenrod Yellow, rare color?
I have heard talk that goldenrod yellow T/As are somewhat rare. I have never seen production #s to confirm this. Reason I ask is, I found a '77 T/A yesterday in need of TLC. Car is now blue but you can see the original yellow under the paint chips and in the wheel wells. Black custom/deluxe interior is still in it and in decent shape, automatic hardtop. Its at an abandoned house and I'm going to call the county tax office monday to see if I can track down the owner about a possible purchase. Something about the thought of that car repainted in the yellow with the birds back on it and that black interior make me drool. As much as I love the black SE cars I think that would be one hot ride.

You might want to try the "search" function here.
Seems to me we had some discussion on this a few months back. There was a yellow 77/78 on the cover of HPP with a "fuzzy" red interior. |

I have a Sundance Yellow 78 Trans am. It is a paler version of Goldenrod. In either case, yellow trans ams are uncommon. I make the rounds frequently looking at Trans ams for sale on the internet and you don't see many around. It may not have been a popular color in the day but they do seem to have a following. A post a few weeks ago should a car show in the middle east where it seemed they were super popular over there. Search for yellow Trans ams on this web site and you should see it. You can't miss one of these cars coming down the street that for sure. I would look into trying to buy it if you like the color. Good luck.

Yeah, I have that issue with the carmine red interiored car. Ugh..lol...
I'm going to make some calls monday to see if I can get some tax record info on the property. I'd like to get ahold of the owner. |

Update:
I did a tax record search and got the name of the owner of the property. From what I can tell and by the looks of the property they are most likely deceased. On the upside, which is very common around here, there are a few people with the same last name living within a mile or so of this house. I printed out a letter and mailed it to each address telling them I was interested in purchasing the car if they were related to the owner of the property. Just sitting back and waiting on a reply.. (fingers crossed). |

Yellow Trans Ams
The ONLY yellow T/A that I've EVER seen here was either a '77, or '78, model...and that was way back in the early 1980's!
As I recall, it had orange & black decals, and a very nice black interior. It was really quite an attractive colour combination. Eddy |

Yup...!
That's about how my buddy's yellow T/A looked back in the early 80's, alright... Yours is only the SECOND one I've ever seen sporting that colour! I wonder why more folks never ordered that hue more --- it sure is an attractive colour. I guess maybe everyone back then was still mesmerized by "Smokey & The Bandit", and BLACK was just THE colour to have... What a pity... Eddy |

Yellow Birds
No doubt about it, that is ONE pretty colour...it really seems to highlight the flow of the body lines of the T/A, and complements it VERY nicely, indeed...

Wow, nice cars. I saw the car in HPP with carmine interior down at the Year One show over the weekend. Car looks way better in person with that color combo. I am yet to hear any response on the letters I mailed out concerning the one I found. I did talk to a guy a few days ago that apparently went to high school with the girl that used to drive the car. He said he was going to try and track her down and get back with me. It really sucks seeing that car there as it has a MEGA nice body and nice interior in it still.
