I don't know how they are to deal with now, but I remember reading about a 64 GTO they got called out on several years ago - it was a clone. That said, once it was brought to light he did the right thing and refunded the guys money in full. Whether or not he knew in advance - who knows? They primarily deal with Vettes, but usually have a good supply of Goats too.

<edit> here's that article BTW...

I would give you my opinion of Mershon...but it's more personal, not business. He lives about a 1/4 mile from me and I would like to......never mind.

Having said that here is a story on the business side of things:
I had a 71 TA that was completely correct except for the block itself. It had the H.O. heads, correct carb, etc. The guy I sold it to traded it to Mershon. Mershon sold it as 100% correct. The guy contacted us and of course we had to tell him the block was incorrect (we built it). I heard that Mershon took it back but then sold it again still representing it as 100% correct. I heard this information second hand so it's hard to say if it's true.

I know Mershon family from the Corvette world. Never heard anything negative about them.

Default My philosophy

My philosophy is that seller's reputation doesn't matter... To the extent a buyer relies on a seller's reputation or anything the seller says is naive and to the buyer's disadvantage.

Buyers should independently verify any information they use to make a buying decision, and if a particular item can't be verified except via the "word" of the seller, then make the decision assuming that item is not true.

I worked for Barry Lobeck quit a few years ago and he knew Mershon fairly well, I had heard of a few bad stories from him.
