What's everyones experience with US Body source vs Unlimited Products? Or any others for that matter.
I need some race wt fiberglass parts. Who's the best in price and customer service that you've delt with?

I have used US Body source and so have a couple friends with great quailty but none of the race weight parts. Hope that helps.

HO428, I used to be in that business and those two sources have alot of selection, however don't be too fussy about fit and finish. Also, re: the race weight stuff, just be prepared to do some stiffening here and there so it doesn't flap in the breeze or fly off down the track. Not trying to be a comedian.

Alot of my customers thought they wanted race weight but were expecting the product to be as rigid as the street grade. Most of them changed their minds and went with the street stuff because the weight difference between race and street is really negligible in the grand scheme of things.

Unlimited post weights, I didn't see them on US site but I'd suspect they're close???
Your right on the hoods, 22 lbs street vs 18 lbs Race Wt. It would be nice to use hinges too and not have to lift it off.
It's a Road race car so don't want no flapping in the breeze.

My glass hood for a 2nd gen bird weighs about 35lbs from Us body and is very rigid fit was quite good.

I've installed a ton of glass parts and I've used US body source and unlimited and would reccomend neither, now it's been a few years since the US body source project, but I built a complete glass 57 chevy and that body was JUNK, heavy as hell and full of air pockets, and this was supposed to be their race weight parts, actually didn't even use their front end because it was too heavy, bought a VFN front and used it instead. And I just helped a friend of mine with an Unlimited hood on a 68 chevy pickup and it took alot of cutting and reglassing to make it fit. Depending on what you're wanting I'd check with glasstek first and VFN second, both of them make pretty nice stuff that is far better than US or Unlimited. Just my two cents.

I wouldn't use unlimited ever again. They are the cheapest and you get what you pay for. Air pockets, pitting. Ya have to work their stuff alot.
I bought a VFN front and doors. Good quality. Didn't need any extra prep. Fit was great.

I have a US Body Source hood (two actually) and bumper on my Chevelle. Quality was not the greatest but they are one of the few suppliers of parts for my car.

For a Pontiac with more suppliers to choose from I would definitely go with VFM or Glasstek (if they are still around).

As far as weights, my steel hood was 80 lbs; bolt on glass hood was 40 and the lift off glass hood was 20. Bumper was 6 lbs (vs 60 lbs for the steel bumper).

Lastly, I do use my hood hinges with my lift off hood. That was discussed on this thread:
