Default Advanced Performace Restorations-Artie Philipp

Just got my 76 TA back From AP. A nice original 23k mile car, that had a bunch of stupid little things annoying me to the point something had to be done. It was all stuff I would do, but I decided to (almost reluctantly, I'm funny about some things and really I like to work on my stuff but too many things going on ) throw Artie the keys.

We talked a bit about what I wanted, car needed clutch, exhaust and a general going through.

In the end it needed a lot more, the problems withthe car were quickly identified by AP and Lester, and soon the car was apart. It needed a radiator, ball joints, brakes, clutch, exhaust, and a few odds and ends.

We ended up putting in a Hays clutch, Pypes crossflow exhaust with RA 3 manifilds, complete brake job with new repro booster, engine detailing with Comp Cams 268 XE and rhoades lifters, Holley (Really...a big step away from what I usually do) 73 intake, and a general buffing out.

Only letdown was the aftermarket brake booster, did require substantial mods to fit right.

Pypes exhaust was a bit tedious to work with but it fits nicely nice splitters, good sound maybe a bit too quiet with balance pipe and raceflow crossover muffler.

Results were beyond expectation. thsi car works quite well and is hard to get out of. Much more settled than the 72 with easier clutch action, smooth throttle response, excellent brakes, etc etc.

I have old old (mid 80's vintage)tires on it and dead sensatracks on it, so that has to be addressed to make it perfect.

A small shop in NE PA, with the ability to do great work.

Artie and Lester are about to become GP experts....little do they know...and I'll get back to you on that!

I met Artie several years ago at the T/A Nats. After 5 minutes, he is an old friend. Super nice guy and does fantastic work! Kinda stays out of the restoration limelight, but his work speaks for itself.
