81 T/A WS6 front rotors same size as regular T/A?
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the 2nd gen stuff. I just bought a '81 Trans Am Turbo WS6. During the test drive I noticed the front brake rotors are warped. Not extremely, but enough to irritate me so I want to put new ones on. Can I get regular rotors that fit just any 2nd gen T/A or are the WS6 ones different? I haven't found any information about the WS6 package that leads me to believe other rotors were used up front. Anybody got a part number for them? Thanks guys! I'll post pictures of the car as soon as I get it home. erik

I don't have a part number , but htey are the same as a regular T/A or even a firebird. Personally I haven't had the best luck with aftermarket brake rotors, seem to warp very easily. You may want to look into having your originals turned. JMO

Rotors should be the same I think 78 they changed the bearing size per my shop manual, calipers were different about 81 when they went to "low drag" and a quick take up M/C.

I have had good luck using the Raybestos Cross Drilled/Slotted brake rotors
not to mention they aid in giving a good bite the Powerslot rotors i have used, but seem to warp easy i wish there were alimunim hub rotors or a two piece conversion available talk about taking some weight off the car. |
