Early production (last six VIN 105454, shipped March 5), looks pretty nice in the pics, LOADED with options, engine bay needs some major work, "RAM AIR" shaker callouts, incorrect gauge bezels, etc.

"Vacuum operated power door locks" - LOL! Last Pontiac to use vacuum operated PDL's was the '69 GP, IIRC.

Does anyone recall, was this car at the PSN's in San Antonio back in June?

Don't recall seeing it at PSN. With the chrome brackets and air cleaner, it wouldn't be hard to distinguish.

if it's truely a #'s matching '70 in blue, would be worth picking up for the right price. Is it just me or does the comfortweave portion of those seat covers look like a Lizard skin pattern? Kind of a custom location for that power window button too.

The Comfortweave material does appear odd, most likely the repro simulated CW material.

Those seats do look terrible. Looks like the fenders and hood are correct. Probable would not be a bad car if you put some correct front seats and tires on the car.

IIRC the M40 was a no-cost option, therefore would not be listed on the invoice.

The lower door panels look like the Camaro's plastic piece.

Are those retractable seat belt housings, down by the sill plates? Were those ever an option on TAs or Formulas? My '71 Formula doesn't have them. Anybody have info on those?

I'd also be leery that there's no closeup pic of the engine block number stamping. There's the fender and cowl tags, but not that. When you say a car is numbers matching that's the first thing you show off.

'70 still had the retractors. In '71 and '72 they went to those plastic sheathed lap belts. I think they went back to the retractors in '73.

door panel bottoms and seat belts look like from a 73.look at the key hole in the connector,that is where the upper shoulder belt would hook into the bottom belt to connect into a single lap belt on the trans tunnel.may be wrong just what it looks like to me.

Upper Door panels and the pull straps are incorrect and the lowers are definitely 73-76. Bezel is correct but the rings should be chrome, not black. Steering wheel has been re-covered. Power window switch is definitely in the wrong spot. Seatbelts are a mess too, '70 had the two-buckle system and the plastic tangs on the console where you stored the buckles are missing. Lots of weird stuff in the engine bay for a 2400 mile car. Aftermarket "spinner" valve cover bolts. Engine color doesn't like right or has it just gotten dull over the years? Chrome air cleaner base and A/C brackets. Autozone terminals on the battery cables. White washer fluid jar with a blue cap? Hood bumper rubber missing. Is that the tire pressure decal on the underside of the decklid? I thought that was supposed to be on the inside of the glove box door. Functional flap missing from the shaker scoop.

Not criticizing the car, it actually looks pretty good and I'd overlook all the little stuff above for the right price. I've seen this TA on ebay once already and they wanted quite a bit for it. Just challenging myself to see what' wrong with it.

dont get why there's so much fuzz about the car. sure it says numbers matching. but anybody with a little thought knows thats not true. the reserve price is WAYYY to low for a actual numbers matching all correct 70's lucy blue trans am.

there are formula's with incorrect camaro spoilers and worn interiors away for the same price!

should it BE actually a true lucy blue trans am, AND it has the original engine, it would be a bargain I dare to say. why? i've seen same/worse looking 70's t/a's number matching (not even fully matching) come by the last 3 years on ebay, and they were reserved at a FAR higher price. 30 to 40 thousand USD f.e. I recall a numbers matching t/a a while ago for about 80.000 USD iirc, true, it was RA4, fully numbers matching, etc etc.....

I kinda understand people are interested in figuring out what would be incorrectly on a car and what should be correctly.....but guys, remember, its a car 38 years old!

We don't know what the reserve is but I'm pretty sure the current bidding is no where near what they're wanting for that car. I'm pretty sure they had a buy it now in the 50s or 60s in the first auction but I could be remembering that wrong. I remember they wanted a LOT for it. I only gave it a casual glance the first time for that very reason. Otherwise I agree with you to a certain extent, however it does seem to me that this dealer is trying to pass it off as a low-mileage, recent restoration that is show quality which its not. Of course I'm sure its just more lack of knowledge on the dealers part then them trying to scam anyone.
