Default D-port RA vs O-port RA headpipe locations

Is the exhaust location where the headpipes are positioned the same on D-port RA vs O-ports and 66-67 vs 68-72? I know the flanges are different but will the front pipes basically bolt up? Or does the length or width (x-pipe) change between the different makes of the manifolds?

I have 71 lemans with RARE 66-67 D-port RA manifolds on it (3 bolt flanges and a little bit of grinding). I need to redo the exhaust (pypes x-pipe setup) but I may be dropping in a round port motor in a few months. So if I used band clamp on headpipes to front of x-pipe will that give me enough play to install the RARE 68-72 O-port manifolds without redoing the front exhaust setup? I did post the question to R.A.R.E. but wondering if any one here has done a similar swap.

Scott
