need 67 OHC 6 Sprint fuel pump
Now in addition to the power brake booster being shot--hiss on braking and change in engine rpm.s at idle-- the fuel pump has died--can't find a source thru normal auto parts nor OPGI or PY--they only have GTO larger engin one--Anybody got a source? Had Woodland sports Loveland CO--from invoice in 2002--tried calling-got strange recording. Will try again? Thanks

I have a few left over from a autoparts warehouse that went out of buisness. I have 1 Dur-A-Bil pump #40528 that is the correct looking "crimp" style pump, $75.00 shipped, and I have several Airtex #40528 RX Pumps that will function the same but look differnt than stock as the are bolt together pumps with replaceable diaphahms. $50.00 Delivered, I also have a couple of the odd ball 67 Sprint with A/C pumps with the vapor return line if your car has A/C
I can take some pic's tonight if you are interested, these are all 4bbl pumps.

Just so you know, the pump in the auction #40494 is a 1 bbl pump, no a 4 bbl pump.
If you want a correct 4 bbl pump, you are looking for a 40528

I have a factory rebuilt 4 barrel pump for 66 Sprint 6
See ebay auction Item number: 130278299981
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem= The pump is Part number AC Type 40508 (GM # 6416834). It fits 1966 Tempest 6 cylinder with 4 barrel carb. Not sure what the difference is between the 66 & 67 pump. Robert |

FWIW,
Diff between the two is minor, you can use/run a 1bbl pump on a 4bbl. I did for over a year before I found a correct pump.

The difference between a 66 & 67 Pump is the fuel inlet conection style, the 66 uses 2 hoses with clamps, the 67-69 4-bble pumps use 1 hose and 1 flared conection.

so will that work for a 67? what would need to be done? would it be easier to just try to find a 67?

Sorry should have been clearer.
My referral to differences was about psi volume. Not fittings/connections. However the 66-67 Sprint pumps are the same # so… Here is what I have. 66’ 1bbl 40310 AF & LE (AF worked fine on my 4bbl.) 66’ 1bbl 40508 AX & GG 66-67 4bbl w/AC 40596 AX & 40528 AX wo/AC 67’ 1bbl 40494 AX 68-69 4bbl 40528 AX 68-68 1bbl 40494 AX These are old notes and If I remember correct this is oem #s Somewhere I have rebuild and/or reman, #s as well. Most used the same # but a few didn’t ??

Things that make you go Hmmmm...
Well I just looked again at the above auction and it seems I have one of my #s crossed.
Looks like the 40508 is for 4bbl That makes sense since I have more of them than any other. So now onto the AC cars, again makes me go hmmm I have a Capac rebuilt unit marked as 40596 67 A & F Body w/AC (1st Pic). I have A.C. on my OHC but don't require a 3rd line/return/vent? so I think 67 only might be more inline? Then a couple of 40508's a rebuilt Capac pump and an AC Delco pump (Pics 2 &3)looks like they ARE 4bbl pumps, oops I've also included the new (as in still sold) Bosch pump which looks more like the old 40310 ((pics 4&5) But I don't have any volume info: Sorry if this is getting confusing I'm just trying to see what’s, what. So I would think that the 40508 with out doubt will work on either 66-67 4bbls. In a pinch a 1bbl pump will work. As well I would think CJs would fit the bill as the #'s are correct 67's CJ, Would you happen to know volume on your pumps? That is the one thing that would make ID easy on any of these pumps. I guess this should be over in Tech

OK FWIW,
I looked through all my stuff and the only ref I could find regarding pump PSI/volume was listed within the 66' AMA specs. It list 4.0 -5.5 as pressure range on the OHC 6 engine. I think it’s safe to say that would be 1bbl vs. 4bbl pumps.

Finally found pump
Took a month but tracked one down thru Primatech motor sports--over 100 bucks and had to ship old one back for $20 refund-but is running--Was good but now no power--What's up? Looking for good repair guy who actually has seen one of these engines near Sacramento--actually Sierra foothills outside Placerville to do engine tuneing. Guesss the right time for that would have been when all was torn apart and engine could have been overhauled--now resto done and may ding up all the body work/paint etc! Anybody out in CA? Let me know if anybody has found any repair shop/person who might help. Kerry-916 216 4655-cell

WOW $100 Is that an NOS pump?
Sorry to hear of you current performance issue. When you say no power, is starving/stalling/sputtering? Did your problem start after the pump install? Check your oil, does it smell of gas? I have had an oem pump fail and it filled my engine with fuel. If the pump is NOS it could be faulty. Have you checked fuel flow/volume. Best of luck & keep us posted.
