I would like to fix up a 73 Pontiac 350 engine boosting compression with a pair of 670 heads and installing a different cam. 4bbl carb haven't picked the intake yet. I have a new 204/214 @.050 cam. Do you think this combo would be quite an improvement over the stock 7.6/1 compression?

I see you're located in OK, was wondering where?

You will certainly see a difference. I did essentially the same thing on a '72 350, but used 1970 small valve #16 heads that were shaved to 68cc. Same cam spec, used performer intake and edelbrock carb (which hasn't been tuned). Flowing thru stock log manifolds into 2" duals.

Stock 2 bbl single exhaust 72 350 was factory rated 150 bhp at the flywheel with full accessories. Last dyno session mine put 247 hp and 308 tq to the wheels.

I plan to run ram air exhaust and tune the carb next. Then possibly going bigger with the cam.

Any O.E. intake with a Q-Jet would work great, even an EGR intake is better than most give them credit.
The cam selection sounds, dead on.
Should run great and get good MPG also.

What will the compression ratio be, with those heads???

670 heads have 72cc chambers. I figure compression ought to be around 9.5/1

First things first. To pick the right cam you need to know the rear end ratio.
