Question Whats going rate on 455's?

I got one sitting in the GP I just picked up and I'm thinking of pulling it and parting with it!

Its casting #485428 w/4x heads

Not sure whats been done with it. The previous owner said theres a different cam in it. Other than that I dont have a clue.

Whats average asking price on these things!

Thanks!!!

Dave,I thought you were going to drive that car?

Kinda tough if it's a roller.

That was the initial plan but with a recent layoff from work wifey is getting nervous about money. So rather than give up the car if I could sell the engine for a few bucks it'll ease her worries. I have a 350 yet in my Cat so I could always drop that in to get me by for awhile. I'd like to find a 67' WG code 428 for it down the road anyway, but I think thats gonna be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I've seen Pontiacman from Alabama asking $1000 for complete pan to carb 455's. Big plus if it has all the pulleys, etc so that those don't have to be hunted down separately.

sounds like you have 73-74 455 with 4X heads. pricing depends on condition. A good running engine is worth more than a rebuildable core.

Good running 455's I get $1200.-up. depends on condition and codes etc.

Guaranteed Rebuildable 455 intake to oil pan $750.-up.

sorry to hear about your layoff. Hope you find something soon.
