Fan shroud for '63?
Didn't realize they had one, but here is one supposedly off of one for sale. Not mine http://stockton.craigslist.org/pts/1207085357.html Is it missing bottom or top part?

The top is missing. Must have been modified to accommodate something.

yeah I found a similar one for my 62. I think only the A/C cars had them, but I could be wrong. When I first saw it I thought it was homemade. I bought it anyway, because it fit, but I have seen 2 others since then...

Interesting....
Thanks for the replies. I was curious, I remember a couple threads regarding A/C cars having shrouds, just thought it was '62's. This shroud is near me and seemed inexpensive, but thought it looked incomplete. Maybe the top was cut to fit around the radiator mount? Maybe someone could use it for patching their rusty one.

Don't know where that came from. I have one on my 63-421sd and its like a box with a hole in it for the fan and strips of rubber too help it seal around the radiator.

Fan Shroud
Dont know much about the 63's, but I know all the 61-62's with factory air had a shroud & a 6 blade fan. What bemergary describes is exactly what a 61-62 looks like. Cant tell by the craigs list pic but it does look a bit like the 61-62 with several pieces missing. Also looks like in the pic that the mount holes on the side of the shroud is offset. On the 61-62's they are straight up & down. I will try to get some pics of my shroud I have mounted on the 61. They may not be very good pics because it is a tight fit down in there.
Keith here should be pics of a 62 shroud mounted on my 61. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLan...localeid=en_US

I have one from a 63 V-8 car. I'm rather certain it was not A/C. I guess V-8 cars got it regardless.

The 62 I am working on has one. When I got the car, it had a pontiac underdash a/c unit in the trunk, but there were no compressor brackets or wiring for ac under the hood. It also has the 6 blade fan.

Andy, That is the correct fan & shroud for a 61-62 wirh factory A/C. Unit under the dash should say "CoolPack" on it.

What the ???
So I purchased a fan shroud for my 63 a while back, it fit in real nice. This was from an A/C car, my car no A/C. I went to install the top bracket and it won't fit correctly. The bracket is designed about a 1/2 inch shorter than my original. I put some spacers under the 3 mounting locations and longer screws and it will work fine. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did you do? And the 3 attaching holes are different, the single hole on the right is located about 1/2 inch off.
Also while installing the front supports I needed the bottom hole lower. I then noticed that my other two sets are both slotted. I can't seem to understand why they wouldn't all be the same... |

Fan finger guards
The finger guard or bracket on the left with a curved top is for 1963 Tempest and the one with a flat top is for the 1961-62 Tempest.

Thanks, learn something new about these cars every day. When I purchased the car back in 1990 this 61-62 bracket was the one and only. My other 63 has factory A/C and the correct bracket. When measuring the height of the radiators they are almost the same, maybe a 1/4 inch taller in the non A/C car, I'm guessing that radiator might be from a 61-62 model? Measures 19.2 inches.
Thanks for the offer John but I have two of the 63 versions. And now I have a 61-62 as well. I noticed today that an extra hole was added in the support to attach that bracket, so I know the support brace is for a 63. |

I have two of them
I have two 63 parts cars, one a 326, factory AC convertible and the other a Lemans coupe, 326, three speed and they both have the shrouds still on them. Appears to me that all 63's used the same top and bottom radiator tanks, but two I have from 4 cyl. cars that only have two rows of cores with the tanks blanked off for the extra row on the two row ones. The two others I have are three row.
