Is there anyone with a for sure original jack for a 69 Gto? I'm trying to determine if the one I have is one or close. I have an original jack for my 68 Lemans and it has the date code on the jack stem near one end of "8 B" which I read as Feb 68. The car was build March of 68. I also have a jack out of a 69 Executive (big car) which also has the date on the jack stem that corresponds with when it was built. It however is over 3 inches longer, obviously for the larger car. It's also has black components as opposed to the blue one for the A bodies. I was given a jack by my good friend Dennis (gto4evr) and it is the same length as my 68 jack, but the components are a little different. It has a date code on one of the rivets on the jack mechanism of "9C" which I would guess is March 69, no? I've read a past post where someone mentioned a date code being on a rivet as well. Before I go to the trouble of cleaning this one up and replating it, I'd like to know if it's truly for a 69 A body. Here is few pictures. My 69 jack looks just like yours, and it has 9A on the rivet. My car was assembled the third week of January 1969. That looks like the right jack. My "tire iron" has USA on one side and 265 on the other side. Below the 265 is a letter or number--hard to read. The jack base has U69 on the side facing the spare.

Thanks for checking yours. I don't have the lug wrench to go with the 69 one. I'll have to check my jack base for the U69.

The jack out of your '68 Lemans is the California style jack. From my researching this topic, cars from the California plants - Freemont and Van Nuys, at least - had this style of jack. I would guess that your '68 is a 'Z' code Freemont car. They obviously had a different supplier than other plants. The '69 jack you have definitely looks to be correct for cars built at other plants.

My 69 jack is from a Baltimore car.

Thanks for this California info. My 68 Firebird built in California has the California style jack and is black. I always thought it was suspect, but it also seems to be date coded correctly so it must be the original.

You got it! Freemont built. If I recall, the jack base is black and the rear bumper adapter is a lighter blue than the jack mechanism. The lug wrench is also a different shade of blue but I can't say for sure that it's the original one. No markings on it

Measured mine at 36". Believe the A body jacks were 33".

I'm working on an 01D Fremont '69 Judge and need to round up a bumper jack. Would the Feb '68 style jack that 69gtocv posted the picture of be correct for my car?

I believe that they used that same jack at least through 1971. I bought one off of craigslist a few years ago that came out of a Freemont 1971 Lemans and it was the same style, dark blue mechanism and base. The correct length is around 34" for the A-bodes and F-bodies. You would have to do some research on what color the base was for '69.

My '69 GTO Framingham built has a blue base to match the jack. I'm original owner so I know it is correct.

The attached pictures are believed to be the original jack out of a ’69 LeMans built at the Fremont, CA plant in April ’69. Note the first picture that shows the March ’69 date stamp (“C 9”) which lends some support to it being correct for the LeMans.

The car I'm working on was built at Fremont the 4th week of January ’69, so I’m trying to confirm that this style is correct for mine. If so, I'll be looking for one dated Jan '69 or prior. Anybody out there able to confirm?
