15 X 6 rims
I am going for the poverty cap look on my 66, so I got a SS cap and it fits the 15 X 6 rims I got from the junk yard.
My question is, will the rims have enough clearance when I do a front disk brake conversion. Thx Steve |

My understanding is any 15 inch wheel with work with front disk conversion. I have 15x7 sttel wheels on my 66, but no disk brakes.

The rims were pulled off an 85 buick.
I forgot to look if they had disks. I'll spend another dollar to go back into the junk yard. Should I abandon these and try the 15X7. Would there be any noticable difference in the look of the tires. |

no, your Buick rims will clear quite a few setups, including stock.

15x6/Carlisle/Jim Wanger
I have been doing mostly body work the past few years and I am gearing up for the mechanical end. Trying to decide on Scarebird, Right Stuff,or Inline.
I was at Carlisle last saturday and met Jim Wanger, and got an autograph copy of Glory Days. He asked about my four door hardtop, and I said I was adding period correct options to the car such as floor console/shifter, vacuum gauge, bucket seats and such. You don't see many of the 4dr hardtops at the events. Undercoating from the orginal owner saved the metal. I thoughly enjoy the journey in getting this project completed. Without this forum and meeting people in the hobby, I would have flipped this car. |

What 85 Buick did the rims come off of? Most with intermediate patterns were 14" those years - unless you snapped them up off of a LeSabre. Both Right Stuff and Inline Tube are good co.s.

Yes it was a LeSabre. I was surprised that my bolt pattern template fit when I checked them. I figured it would have been a 5x5 pattern.
Am I better off doing the front suspension and brakes and lines all at the same time. |

You should have a few choices in brakes - 1969-72 stock is good (especially if you get the OEM spindles and brackets, not repops).
Note: following is biased We have two setups that work with the drum spindles: one is heavy duty, other is light duty (sole design criteria was to fit inside stock 14" rim, but will work fine with your 326, especially with a S10 booster.) |
