Default heres my turbo headers

Let me know what you guys think.

these will be for sale in the next few weeks and I can also get you any turbos, wastegates or BOV's to go with them.

Most guys know me from over at Pzone but I spend alot of time over here in the 67 69 firebird tech section.

Its great to have sites to help our hobby progress to new levels.

Are there alot of turbo guys here too?

heres a few more

I worked pretty hard on the design for these gives us pontiac guys a good alternative and gets us on a level playing field with stangs, chevies and the import guys.

You cant imagine the power of a turbo on 455 or larger cubes of pure pontiac torque!

Lots of builds on P zone for those who havent seen the forced induction section over there!

Lets get some pontiacs running 9's and streetable!

Nice work
just wondering out loud, would a 4 tube work better and are you going to finish off the interior of the turbo mount to help flow?

cammer the turbo mount is actually ported very well on the inside and has worked very effiecintly.(looks funky in pics though) I actually built this system in 2004 and have run it on my car for quite some time. I just recently redid it in Stainless.

The set up was designed with a few things in mind and one of them was ease of use. You can get to all your plugs easily. which can be very important between rounds at the track or on the side of the road etc.

The other was to be able to fit more applications.

I do turbo setups for people and I didnt want to have to keep changing the design for different applications. This design uses alot less space than many others and the 4 tube 3 tube issues you would have N/A are not much of a concern with turbo charging.

This set up made 878 HP on my 455 with only 11 psi boost carburated.(NON INTERCOOLED)
Ran 9.70 at 145 off the foot brake

I can turn down the boost and run the car on pump gas all day loing with no adverse afffects then turn the boost back up and go racing!

What more can you ask for in a car.

by the way I did all this with a 76 455 2 bolt block, Arp studs for mains and heads, Turbo cam, 6x heads with no port work just a 1.77 ex valve installed and this header set up, and a $675.00 turbo

I also ran very similar numbers with a 428 based 440 pontiac engine.
Both engines had 8.2 to 1 compression SRP pistons and the 455 uses CAT rods the 428 used SD 455 rods

The car weighs 3250 and runs a 3.73 gear ratio with 28 inch tall tires

With a more advanced timing curve and a more tunable fuel system this car would easily run in the 8's I never really pushed it all that hard.

The car now has a Gen 7 DFI system the stainless headers which will retain more heat energy an intercooler 160 Lb hr injectors, (ported heads still 6x) and a better cam for the bottom end of the RPM curve, The DFI should really help out in the ignition curve area as well.

The car was plenty fast enough for me as is but I just cant leave things alone.LOL

Price has not been finalized should have one in the next week or so for this set up.

round port will follow if theres enough interest in this set up. Not sure on the front plate.

I run factory motor mounts wrapped and welded.

your not too far away you should come check them out on the car soon!

I was hoping to have it running again soon but I am in the middle of building a 17,000 Sq ft building for a company in Bristol CT and its taking up alot of my time and $$$ so The car may take alittle longer than expected to get back together. Unless I go back Blow thru temporarily.

really wanted to get the DFI up and running but theres so many changes to make.

I also made the mistake of starting in on my convertible bird porject while this was apart so now I have two projects running concurrently.

I may just shelf the vert til winter.

hasnt been tested on second gens yet. They should from what I have seen of thier engine bays but Dont want to say yes until I actually have a set bolted in one.

We are already working on a twin set up as well but Its going to e bhind this set up.

If you read the article on Pzone about Twins VS Single you may think twice about a twin set up though.

Maybe I'll copy and paste some the info over here too.

here you go justa little added info on the debate.

This was side bar in the article (boosted Expectations)Circa 2003 may issue for anyone whod like to read the rest. Its one of the better turbo sizong articles I have read.

The guys name is Dave andrews an application engineer for garrett There is a myth that multiple turbos are inherently better than a sinlge when it relates to gas turbocharging.
This simply isnt true!

A large single turbo is ALWAYs more efficient than multiple smaller units.

The increase in efficiency afforded by larger results in less back pressure, lower intake man. temps. and often better transient response!

As turbos increase in size they become more efficient.

(Bla blah blah Size VS tip Vs bigger is better.)

"The actual differences between single and twins as it relates to HP can be significant"

For example: On a 400 CI Pro 5.0 engine a well matched turbo can create the same boost pressure as twins, but with 12 psi lower exhaust man. pressure.
The lower pressure results in lower engine pumping losses and aslight increase in V.E.
The two effects include less turbine power required and lower intake temperature(good for octane tolerance).
Its very possible to see 40 dgrees or lower compressor outlet temps. from a good single turbo vs smaller twins.

This translates to a cooler denser intake charge.
"Comparing a larger turbo map to a smaller unit with half the flow will imidiately show the difference in compressor efficiency at a given pressure ratio"

theres a lot more to that article but thats the basic jist of the twin VS single section.

I like twins for packaging but runa single on my car.

The capri my buddy ran had a 347 with a 106 MM in a full stock body and it ran 8.40's it was a pretty trick set up though with air to water intercooler etc.

But on the exhaust side it was very simple shorty headers with 2.5 Xover pipes to a 106 MM on a T 6 flange.

Not very exotic from a exhaust standpoint.

The X over pipe on this header set up nags below the radiator in thefront of the car where the front spoiler would be. Its hard soemtimes to when it not in the car to get the full picture

Very nice work turbo69!!! I would like to do the turbo thing someday on my 68. So its nice to know you might have an exhaust man kit available.

Its not too much if you wanna run race fuel and not a ton of boost.

The more you intercool it the better too. The cooler inlet temps allow better octane tolerance water methanol injection would help raise the octane too.

Or you could run E 85 at 105 or so octane and a cooler charge it would work really well with 9.2 compression.

Thanks for the kind words.

It really was alot of work to get this whole thing rolling but iot was so needed in the pontiac world. With a chevy or ford you can flip a shorty header and work from there but us Pontiac guys had no real alternatives to a real custom made turbo header.

Since I sell turbos to most of the pontiac turbo guys anyway I decided I should be the guy to get it done.

Now I am no Big fish kind of guy I am just a guy who Loves to turbocharge pontiacs so it was alot of work for me to get this rolling.

Now everyone can go out and turbo a Pontiac with relative ease!

I kept the pricing very low too. I dont want to make this an advertisement so I am not posting it here.

They will be easy enough to find.

In the mean time I am happy to help anyone who has any questions on turbocharging pontiacs!
I know theres alot of other knowledgable guys on here too.

heres a link to my gallery for OLD pics of my first turbo set up. the placement of the turbo is still the same though si It gives an Idea of placement and how much room it takes up.

heres a picture of the placement on the car

you can see theres a lot of room around the turbo even on this side of the car the other side uses almost no room because the header drops down under the radiator support.

My car uses a lift off nose but theres a ton of room on the drivers side

It also all fits nicely under my stock hieght 350 style hood with my performer intake and 850 holley carb even with my very tall carb hat!

Talk about stealth
