Opinions: RA3 '69 GTO convert
Looking for opinions. Would a Ram Air III/4speed '69 GTO convertible (non-Judge) be as desirable/valuable as a Ram Air III Judge hardtop? Just curious.

Personally I do not believe the vert would be as valuable as the Judge, assuming similar equipment/condition.

Considering they are rare (249 made that year) I think so...but then again I am biased just a bit...

I would pay more for the 'Vert...but I prefer convertibles.

Most people would think, "I want a Judge!" rather than "I want a RAIII!" so perhaps the issue of supply/demand could push the Judge to the forefront, even though I don't quite agree.
Judges are everywhere. RAIII ragtops aren't, plus the top goes down. Is this really a hard one? |

You are probably asking the wrong crowd here since most of us are die hard Pontiac people that like and value the rare and lesser produced cars.
Eventhough more RAIII Judge htps were produced over the RAIII 4spd GTO vert, I would say the RAIII Judge htp would be more desirable and fetch more dough in the collector car market. Yes the drive train is the same, but the Judge resides in a higher pecking order than the GTO. Your typical musclecar collector/buyer would go for the Judge because of the perceived supercar status that goes with the name Judge. As for me.....give me the rare and lesser produced car that you do not see as often. |

I was never into hardtops so I would say the convertible.

RE:
Judge for sure. They all came standard with Ram Air III engines. You have the "Judge " and the "Ram Air III". Nada shows over 75K for a Ram Air vert and over 110K for a Judge hardtop. Nada is always high in there values but its what all the big auctions give to you at there venues.

Let's see, a 69 RAIII 4-spd (non-Judge) convertible = 175 cars produced.
while a 69 RAIII Judge hardtop = 6,429 cars produced. I'd go with the convertible for both rarity and desirability. Check out this thread on RAIII (non-Judge) cars. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=593447 |

Question came up on another thread....Did the 1970 non-Judge RA cars have the black hood scoop inserts like the Judges?

I had a matador red RA III Conv 4spd car. Sold it and bought a Judge. I liked the car but not much different than my plain conv, and my friend really wanted it. My 2 cents having owned one. Mark

Only Judges had the black scoop inserts in 1970.
