Would anyone happen to have a recent dupont number or other cross reference for 1974 Admiralty Blue (code 29)? I called my local dupont automotive paint store and they seem to be stumped as what the cross reference is to a dupont base coat color.

Its the same as 1966 code E Nightwatch Blue. I'm painting a '66 GTO for a customer of ours that is a original code E nightwatch car with Nason base which is a Dupont line. It actually says Admiralty Blue on the code chart on the can. I'm going back out there later and I'll see if there are anymore codes on the can.

I only have a PPG code handy. 29 is # 2526, not sure if that helps.

Just went out and looked and it just says code E Admiralty Blue. If you have an Oreilly Auto locally just run by there and see if they can get it.

Says 97220 on the top right corner of the label but I don't think that is a paint code. If you are dealing with a reputable paint store they should have a computer mixing system that will give them codes just based on the year make and model color code. If I have someone wanting PPG there is another place I deal with that is totally computerized. If I call him and say I need a '74 Pontiac code 29 it will pull up the name and mix ratio just by the info I tell him.

OK, I am hopeful that 5474L is a reference to a dupont base cost and not a single stage. I will pursue that more. I am concerned that the L at the end of 5474L means lacquer. That may be why my local dupont store was stumped, what is the cross reference to a dupont base coat?

I am thinking the last Admirality Blue car i painted,DuPont did not have mix in Chroma Base.I had them take pictures with thier machine of the underside of the trunk lid.I think it came back as an 83 Rolls Royce color. It was dead on correct,as i see alot of these AB cars not quite the right shade.

I had a pint of Admiraliy Blue mixed and had my paint guy shoot it on a small fender patch,I like it.I called a parts store to see if the admirality blue and Nocturne blue were the same (Du pont)the lady told me the 5474 (74) and the 4395L (64) number don't show up in the computer only paint codes? So what are those number for,I got the 4395L out of the GTO Restoration Guide.

They absolutely are not the same. Nocturne is a little darker than Admiralty Blue. Close but not the same.
