Hood emblem question
During the restoration of my hood, I have stumbled across a surprise. The hood had no putty in it, except for an area in the middle front of the left side. As I removed the putty, I have found 3 holes. The unusual thing is that they are countersunk as if they had been stamped into the hood. The car has not been on the road since 1987, so whoever did this, did a professional job. Now for the question. Does anyone know if there was ever a secondary hood emblem installed on a '65, '66 or '67 hood? The hood is original and the scoop was cut out to provide air flow. I know the hood was not original to my car due to the original color underneath. Or, does anyone have an idea why there would be 3 holes in this area? Thinking maybe it's an old drag racing trick of some sort? I have attached some pics. I am planning to weld them up, unless I find I have a special hood of some sort. Thanks for any replies.

65 had no hood emblem. 66 and 67 do have the triangle Pontiac emblem but it is only held on with 2 studs. What that 3
holes on the left side are for I've no idea...... Fill them in.

Weld them up. They were done with a punch (that's why they're counter-sunk) in order to screw in a dent puller and snatch out a dent.
