Default 76 trans am crossmember question??

Auto vs. Standard tranny....the same?

i think so i could be wrong my car was a 4 speed orgionaly but the guy thqt owned it befor me threw a th400 in it and the crossmember looks like it wasnt touched

For the earlier cars w/o cats the TH350 and 4 speed crossmembers are the same. TH400 cars got a different one. I would assume that a 76 crossmember will accept a M/T or auto transmission. I you want to put a TH400 in the car you can modify the existing crossmember or purchase an aftermarket one.

As I understand it,ALL 75-81 trans. crossmembers are the same.

You can also use it for a TH400,but it will need to moved back a few inches & new holes drilled in frame rails.
