I've had the same Hotmail address for over 10 years, in April, all my contacts (about 100 back then) recieved the following email.............

Then it happended again, with a new computer, twice in Aug. and again on labor day, same text, but different website link. I was told it was a hacker or worm that got my Hotmail password, so a couple of weeks ago I got a gmail acc't, deleted all my contacts from my Hotmail and quit using it.

Today, several of my contacts let me know they recieved another email from my Hotmail, this one just said "hello..........H8" in the subject but no text/advertisement. I went to my Hotmail, there are still no contacts in there and unlike the previous times, my sent folder is not showing that the email was sent out.
Also, the same email is in my NEW GMAIL address sent folder showing it was sent to my old hotmail, but nobody else.
I'm assuming I've got a bad worm/virus, whatever on my computer, I do not know much about these but isn't this really strange?

My previous computer had F-Secure for protection (installed by my previous employer), my new one has the Free AVG.

I've never heard of that before.

I assume you used the 'Remember me on this computer' option, but still reqired password to sign in. I wonder if it might have been hacked sometime when your computer shut down and you weren't signed out. Or something similar.
G-mail has the 'Stay signed in' option also, which I never use.

Some websites, like YouTube, and even eBay will leave you signed in even when you close the window (unless you use the sign out button). At least it is that way on the computer I use at my friend's office.

This happpened to my nephew last year. They steal your password to get your address book. They hope to drum up scams based on what your friends think is your recommendation. Last I knew, he still couldn't get hotmail to close his account. Start a new mailbox elswhere, notify as many people as you can remember from your old acct. and tell them to not open anything from your old hotmail acct.

Thx for the info, which btw is correct, I've done alot of searching, there is no way to close your Hotmail acc't, they say to quit using it and it will be closed after so many days of not logging in (2 hundred something if I remember correctly), which normally would be fine, but since someone else is logging on and sending emails out I guess it will never be closed.

There is no phone # to get ahold of anybody at Hotmail, one phone # I found is for billing and for paid acc'ts only relating to billing issues. I did find an [email protected] email that I'm going to send an email explaining the situation (apparantly I am one of hundreds this has happended to, and nobody seems to be able to resolve this) and beg to permanently delete my hotmail account, its embarassing to have these go out every week or so, I have got a new Gmail address a couple of weeks ago and deleted all my contacts from my hotmail, but they still go out.

BTW-I've had a HM acc't for 10 years and never needed CS so I did not know this, and I'm not sure if Gmail is the same but my mom has a SBCglobal email (free), now ATT/Yahoo, she came over a few weeks back and I helped her join Ebay/PP ect. and we needed to access her email, of course she didn't know her PW or security questions so we called ATT and they were very helpful, even gave my mom his direct extension explaining that when she returned home since we changed PW's that her modem would need resetting and he would walk her through it, didn't think too much of their CS at that time how but now I do!!!!!

To talk to someone at MSN (hotmail), go here and type MSN in the search box and follow the directions. This is a good site to find phone numbers that connect to real people instead of recorded messages.

That is a great site to have (saved in my favorites), but unfortantely, they do not have MSN, Microsoft, or Hotmail.
They do make this difficult, I sent an email to [email protected] and received it back already saying they can not process it w/ out more info, which it then tells you to go the email you believe to be spam and send it to them, which does not allow you ability to include any text, such as please close my Hotmail acc't.

Thx Rocky, when you first pull the link is showing the 40 most viewed, so when you search it is searching in the those 40 only, you have to click on the link for the 1,320 to get MSN, just wasn't smart enough to figure that out at first, Thx again, site came in handy here and I bet it does in future as well.
