Chevy engine guys, what year is this one?
Actually, what CID is this one?
I have a sbc with the following numbers cast on it and three choices of what it might be according to Moretec: 3932386....302cid.....69....4 bolt main...Z-28 Camaro 3932386....327cid.....69....2 bolt main 3932386....350cid.....69....2 or 4 bolt main Can anyone tell me exactly what it is CID wise? The date on the rear pass side is K268 which I assume is late '68 for the '69 model year? There is a pad at the front of the engine with the following numbers on it: TI202HS 19Z322595 The heads are double hump, but I didn't look for the casting numbers. |

Seems the first number was cast on all 4" bore blocks (for 1969).
The numbers on the pad at the front are going to narrow it down.

 Seeking recovery of my stolen 1988 Buick LeSabre T-type. Primary summer driver & Road Trip car. Garnet Red with 2007 PENDOT inspection stickers on windshield. Had minor damage to left rear quarter & bumper. Last three of VIN: 301 Could be being driven with altered VIN. Bodywork on left rear quarter (near the tail light) would be a tip-off. Last seen by a patrol officer doing a routine plate check in Gary, Indiana, August 31, 2009 (The thieves were driving, but my plate was clean.) |

I believe the 19ZXXXXXX is the partial VIN. I located the HS suffix on the eng code as being a 350 auto block for A, F, X bodies (Cam, Chevelle, Nova).
If that is so, and the Z is for Fremont like in Pontiac. Does anyone know which cars were built in Fremont for Chevy? I assume it would only be L or N for a Camaro block? Were Novas built in Fremont in 1969? If not, then it's a Chevelle block. |

The "Z" in the partial VIN on the engine pad, 19Z322595, indicates the car the engine came from was a Chevelle from the Fremont Plant. The "HS" suffix code, TI202HS, indicates the engine is a 255 hp, 350 ci, 4bl, w/ TH 350.

If the heads are original to the block, and are the later "double hump" heads, they should be casting #186, and have accessory bolt holes, etc. The early "double hump" heads did not have accessory bolt holes, the most common casting numbers being 291, 462 or 461. I'm certain that by the 1969 model year they had accessory bolt holes in the heads, not sure exactly when they made that switch, but 1967 engines still used the heads without the bolt holes.....Cliff

These heads don't have the acc holes. Possibly earlier heads, then.
