1988 F350 steering column.
(1) How do you remove the lock cylinder from the column? I want to change locks on the truck. I took the black hex screw off in pic one, but that just allows removal of the silver block that the plunger rides thru. The Phillips head just held an electric part in place. It's loose and not related.

(2) I have a broken part and a missing part. One part is for either a tilt or non-tilt column--same part for either. The other is the actual outer metal collar that cups the base of the tilt portion. IOW, the tilt part that pivots is surrounded by this metal collar that is gone. Someone broke it away to get to the switch rod that is broken.

Sometime in the past, the rod that runs from the key switch to the ignition switch has been broken. While replacing that I found a part that the upper end of the rod goes into (attached to the back of the key switch) is broken.

The little cast aluminum piece is broken. You can see in pick two where it has a square post that is missing--look at the fresh break facing you. It attaches to the black trolley through the elongated slot and pushes the rod, then to the ignition switch. Anybody have a junk column laying around?

Doug, in most lock cylinders you turn the key to the on position. Should be a spring loaded piece that you push in and pull the cylinder out.

Thanks, I got the lock out. The pin is under the bump out where the lock is inserted. I had it turned to ON and it didn't want to come out until I backed it up some and pulled out at the same time I was turning it to ON. It may have been harder because I have the lock collar in my lap instead of on the fixed, stable column.
Ford dealer has the ignition actuator and they said it's a common failure. Don't know about the security ring yet.
