Fixing backup lights - reverse rods to steering column
Hey all,
I'm fixing my backup lights on my '75 T/A and I'm a bit stumped. The rod that runs to the steering column to switch the reverse light switch on and off is just sliding in the swivel. In other words, when I engage reverse, the lower rod doesn't have any effect on the upper rod - it just slides over the upper rod. How does the lower rod and idler arm attach to the upper rod that goes to the steering column? The diagram in the shop manual shows a clamp - what does that clamp look like? Mine seems to be missing, but it doesn't look like it's ever been apart. -matt |

I want to think the swivel is the clamp. Seems like it's a 5/16 bolt (1/2" hex head) that goes all the way through and jams into the rod. If it's what I'm thinking, all you need to do is adjust it and tighten the bolt.
It's been awhile, let us know what you find out.
