Default Am i using wrong harness??67 gto

Confused a little bit, the harness under my carpet up to the sterring wheel harness, then there is a short wire connection to the sterring wheel harness, is so short that it acually hangs down in front of my brake pedal just to get it connected?? I am always shoving it out of the way, This piece was in the car when purchased, isn,t there a long version of this short wire harness connector??? Its sort of shaped like a U , can i get your thoughts on this??I thought this harness was long as to go behind the fuse box and then up along sterring wheel column?? Am i wrong??

If you could post a pic that would help a lot, turn the flash on.

Is this the flat ribbon harness, covered in black plastic or part of the turn signal harness?

I re-read the message and I think I understand what your describing. The "U-shaped" connector is from the turn signal harness to the ribbon harness. That rectangular connection is done maybe a few inches above the fuse box. The ribbon harness fits along the firewall, there is a metal tab on the firewall that will help hold the harness to the floor. Then once connected to the turn signal harness it goes up to the steering colomn, where the U-shaped connector is, does that sound right?

Sounds to me like the ribbon harness is not running along the floor/firewall and the tab is not being used to hold it down, but again, a photo would help.
