Default SAAB is now gone too

translation below:

GM lägger ned Saab

Publicerat i dag. 14:19

General Motors initiates closure of Saab Automobile. Maud Olofsson (C) sits right now in meeting with trade unions, representatives from the municipality and Saab's leadership in Trollhättan. Press conference will be held as soon after the meeting ends at 16.00

General Motors, GM, announced on Friday afternoon that the planned sale of Saab Automobile AB can not be implemented.
After Koenigsegg Group AB fueled by an affair with GM last month, GM has had discussions with Spyker Cars.
GM's CEO Ed Whitacre said on Tuesday that Spyker is the only remaining speculator. If there is business with Spyker Cars is no other option for Saab Automobile than the settlement, was Ed Mr Whitacre's statements. Then he thought a deal before the deadline in late December to January was possible.
On Friday it emerged that the deal can not be implemented because GM does not seem to catch well with preparations for the affair, so called due diligence, before 31 December, a date has been set up by GM's board. In a press release on GM's website, type the chairman of GM Europe, Nick Reilly, that "despite great efforts by all involved has become clear that there needed to complete these complex transactions can not be executed within a reasonable time".
Nick Reilly emphasizes that there is a bankruptcy and expects to Saab to pay its debts. Saab will continue to provide Saab owners around the world with service and spare parts.
"We will be in close collaboration with Saab liquidate the business in an orderly and responsible manner."
The news has been Spyker stock to fall by almost 13 percent of the Dutch stock exchange.

If you look at a word in English, most are pronounced the way they're spelled out, but if you see Russian words you kind of scratch your head...which is what I did reading your post above lol.

Well, I think it's too bad - I hate to see a company with such a long history just go away, and there will be a lot of people out of jobs. I've always liked Saabs, just because they were so peculiar. I almost bought one once, one of the old ones with a three cylinder two stroke engine. If I remember correctly it was a GT or rallye version, the engine had three carburetors and it had a four speed on the column shifter.

Saab has always struggled Bjorn; and I admit I owned two, one a beater that sat at the airport when I went out of town, one was a great corner-carver 'til I rolled it.

Default Sob story

A friend of mine wanted to buy a Saab many years ago and since I was in the automotive repair wanted to know my opinion. I called my son who was in the business to ask his opinion ad he said "for every Saab there's a sob story". My friend went ahead and bought the Saab and said it was the worst mistake he ever made.

SAAB (until Koenigsegg) was in Sweden called "the other" Swedish car...
and its not that old a car co., it started after WWII, because they wanted the factory , which built planes ,to keep producing...and the first SAABs looked like a plane cockpit w/o wings....but had a 3 cyl. two stroke engine....

I`ve never liked them...my sister had one for awhile ,so when I visited , I was sometimes forced to drive one.....

they WERE good as rallye cars though...Eric Carlsson succesfully drove them for years and won rallies...

well, to me it does! LOL...mostly , in that sentence, with the exception for the ä, å and ö sounds....

but in others you`ll have the CH or SCH sounds , spelled many ways in Swedish , like with k or kj, or sj , tj sch or stj....

the 2 strokes were Auto Union (DKW) based engines ; the later V4s were German Ford engines.

My company owns a Saab dealer that will be no more. It really sucks, as people will no doubt lose jobs.

It's amazing , GM can't sell the companies they want to and won't sell the one they could (Pontiac).
